Seven Questions with Dr. Keith Warner, Lead Minister of the local church, see photo and quote below.

date of interview, 12 March 2021

First, a bit of a note:
In the late winter of 2020, the church hired Dr. Warner as its new Senior Minister. He preached his first sermon there on the first Sunday of March of that year.
    oh well
From that ... ... well, from that beginning, good things, and unusual things, and some flatly odd things have happened. Not just to this local church, but to the entire world.

They got the technology together to move their services online. Live Streaming on Facebook and Youtube (links to those pages below). As well as to continue to broadcast a 'tape delayed' message on WITY radio and then post that message as a downloadable MP3 on their website (more links below). All together, their internet presence has had hundreds more people involved than would even fit in their building.
Not bad for a hundred and ten year old congregation.

Now, at the end of March of 2021, they are looking to 'get back to usual', one tries not to say 'normal' anymore. Sunday School is resuming on Palm Sunday. Then the ladies are having their monthly "Joy Us Ministries" meeting on 1 April. After that, they are looking to slowly bring all of the regular activities back, including their Fifth Sunday fellowship dinners, VBS this summer, and, sooner or later, their "household item giveaway" that was put on something of an indefinite hold last fall.
They are also totally remodeling their entrance way, there is talk of a spring "work day" to get the rest of the building and grounds back into shape, and more, as we'll see in a minute.

Tilton Progress sat down with Dr. Warner and decided to just give him our profile sheet and let him fill it out and see what happens. This is the result:

  1. How long have you been in business / and in this location?
    -    The church has been here since the Nineteen Teens. He has been a minister for 28 years.
  2. How many employees?
    -    There is two staff on the payroll. The other is the Associate Minister for Youth, Dustin Long.
  3. Although it may be obvious, what is your business?
    -    This is a community church that seeks to bring the Good News about Jesus to Tilton and the rest of our area.
  4. What do you want people to know about this place?
    -    "We're open and here for all."
  5. What is the main advantage you see for being located here?
    -    "Ease of access for those we serve."
  6. Any plans to expand?
    -    Yes. Besides remodeling the foyer (see photo), there is talk about adding on to the building, as well as expanding the types and number of services and functions held. As they put on the screen on Sunday Morning: "A New Beginning in This Old Church."
  7. Anything else you'd like to be on the website about your business.
    -    Starting on the 28th, masks will be optional. If somebody is more comfortable wearing one, or not wearing one, they are leaving that up to the individual. Their Sunday Morning Welcome Center is open with coffee or tea for all for free.

"I see the Mission of Central Park Church to be its outward focus, as well as working to build spiritual lives inside and outside the church, and to minister to the local community. If we do that, we will see the spiritual and physical growth of the church."
Keith Warner, Lead Minister

They are also discussing replacing the sign on Washington Street, and putting a new one on the highway.

It's beginning to look like every church in town is under construction in some way... but that really is PROGRESS!
