date of event: 28 March 2020
When the Desk arrived half an hour early to check out the event, it was already going, with a line around the building, down the lane, out to the highway, and down to the corner several blocks away. What was at least a half a mile of bumper to bumper vehicles. And it was raining.
When she had a few moments, MS Molly, the Vice President of Development of the Eastern Illinois Foodbank (the lady in the gray sweater in the center of the first photo below), spoke to the Desk about the event. They had arranged to have supplies for about 350 families on hand for this 'trial run' of a drive through food distribution. As you can see below, the need of the community far exceeded their estimates. However, she did say there would be more events later, and that the foodbank and its supporters and volunteers were grateful for the chance to help. And the Need, as you will see below, is Great.
If you wish to make a donation, the information for the Eastern Illinois Foodbank is below. Information about future distributions will be forthcoming.
