what the sign out front says is true, and no mistake!

        This is business is somewhat unique in Tilton. Yes, it is one of those new businesses that have sprouted from the soil like spring corn and beans, but just WHERE this one sprouted is what makes it unique. As you can see from the image above, it is ON Herschell Lake, which the Village dredged and relandscaped to make what was already a 'nice pond' into one of the best scenic venues in the county.
        The Desk stopped by one brisk and windy Tuesday morning to see how the new place was getting on. The ladies were helpful and welcoming, and all full of good information, such as the facility, while only open a few weeks, is already approaching half full, and that the upcoming BINGO tournament will have extra prizes! After one of the ladies finished discussing the available rooms and suites with an interested party, they made time for this project.
        As usual, we asked our seven questions, THEN were given a wonderful tour of their beautiful facility with an astonishing array of amenities for the residents. Ms Taylor compared it to what is offered on a cruise ship, and, to be fair, the comparison is justified except for one small point. Most cruise ships have a slightly larger putting green.....

        But other than that, the place is amazing and well worth the look if you or a loved one are looking for an alternative living arrangement, and, after spending the day doing yard work that Monday, the Desk was sorely tempted to see about one of their vacant rooms and what was on the bill for the on site movie theater this weekend.

  1. How long have you been in business / and in this location?
    -    Autumn Fields has been in business for 6 years in Hoopeston and 4 years in Savoy. This facility has been open for two months.

  2. How many employees?
    -    About 15 right now. As we fill up we will be hiring a few more.

  3. Although it may be obvious, what is your business?
    -    Independent and Assisted Living residence community, also with respite care services.

  4. What do you want people to know about this place?
    -    We Are Open! We offer a wonderful alternative to aging at home alone and the opportunity to just downsize and add care later IF needed.

    NOTE: one thing that wasn't covered in the questions is the extent of those amenities as mentioned above. Everything from multiple libraries and cozy seating areas, at least four working fireplaces, a lakefront patio, and an enclosed outdoor courtyard with gas fire pit for 'weenie roasts', to that 24 seat theater, recreation areas, a beauty salon and coffee/snack bar that is always open, and the usual and expected activities like the upcoming BINGO and local speakers and visiting church groups.

  5. What is the main advantage you see for being located here?
    -    The Village has been wonderful to help us and be involved. The location and view are beautiful. We are a privately owned company able to be very responsive to our residents ever changing needs.

  6. Any plans to expand?
    -    Yes. In the future we are planning to open a Memory Care addition.

  7. Anything else you'd like to be on the website about your business.
    -    48 units. Studios and One and Two bedroom units. Charter Member Rates still available (as of early November 2018)
